CRL Foundation Presents: Holiday Hope for a Cure 2019

Discover how a deeply human, 100% volunteer-driven community is breaking down the rigid barriers of standard cancer care in our latest blog feature covering the Holiday Hope for a Cure 2019 benefit

At Cancer Research and Life Foundation, the mission has always been to break through that barrier and connect with patients who are struggling with the disease of cancer on a truly human level.

To share a message of comfort and resilience, the foundation hosted its Holiday Hope for a Cure 2019 brunch at the historic Five Crowns Restaurant in Corona Del Mar, California. The afternoon was an intimate, powerful gathering of medical pioneers, dedicated advocates, and survivors celebrating the life-changing impact of precision medicine and deeply compassionate care.

Here is a look back at the evengings' highlights:

Stories of True Healing

The heart of the afternoon belonged entirely to the survivors. Guests listened to raw, deeply moving testimonials from patients who shared their journeys through their diagnoses and standard medical hurdles.

Eleanor, a full-time single mother, spoke about navigating a metastasized breast cancer diagnosis, eventually finding a sanctuary of support and healing through the foundation’s resources. Lisa then shared an emotional account of what she could only describe as a "divine intervention", waking up in the middle of the night after learning her insurance refused to cover a staggering $55,000 per treatment chemotherapy bill, a turning point that led her to Dr. Nezami's door and ultimately brought her cancer markers back to normal.

A Promise of Pure Integrity

A defining moment of the event was the refreshing shared by the foundation's leadership regarding how they operate. While many charitable organizations face skepticism over administrative costs, the board proudly highlighted their unique structural philosophy:

  • 100% Volunteer Driven: Every single executive and team member volunteers their time completely free of charge, driven entirely by the cause.

  • Direct Patient Impact: Not a single penny of donation money goes toward personal or executive expenses. This ensures that every contribution is funneled directly into immediate patient resources, comfort, and clinical care.

Coming Together to Make a Difference

The afternoon wrapped up with a collective call to action to expand the foundation's reach and protect the integrity of its treatments. Board member Brian Griffith shared his family's personal gratitude for Dr. Nezami and shed light on a bold vision for the future: bringing specialized pharmacy compounding entirely in house to maintain strict quality control over personalized, epigenetic therapies.

Thanks to a generous matching donor program active during the event, every dollar raised by the attendees was immediately doubled. Every bid and every donation directly supports the foundation’s ultimate goal: ensuring that cutting-edge, compassionate science is accessible to the patients who need it most, stripping away financial and insurance hurdles so they can focus entirely on what matters which is healing and giving hope for a greater future.
