CANCER RESEARCH AND LIFE FOUNDATION EVENT MISSION POSSIBLE 2019

When it comes to fighting cancer, the traditional path can often feel like an overwhelming numbers game, one where patients are treated more like data points than people. At Cancer Research and Life Foundation (CRLF), the goal has always been to rewrite that narrative, offering cutting-edge care that treats the whole human being, not just the disease.

To honor this vital work, the foundation hosted its Fundraising Gala in Irvine, California. The evening brought together an inspiring community of scientists, physicians, advocates, and survivors to celebrate the life-changing impact of translational science, precision oncology, and low-toxicity integrative medicine.

Here is a look back at the evengings highlights:

Stories of True Healing

Guests listened to deeply moving, personal testimonials from patients like Julie Ertel, who recounted the terrifying reality of a late-stage, metastatic diagnosis. Julie and her husband spoke of the profound relief of finding a medical team that offered an immediate ray of hope when conventional oncology ran out of options. She shared her incredible transition from being wheeled into the clinic in a wheelchair to standing before the crowd completely unassisted, a living miracle made possible by personalized, targeted care.

A New Way of Thinking: Connection, Stem Cells, and Epigenetics

Dr. M.A. Nezami spoke passionately about the critical need for doctors to close the gap between clinical data and the human spirit.

Dr. Nezami challenged mainstream oncology by explaining why treatments succeed in a lab but fail in a human body, cancer is a complex systemic disease and not just a localized symptom. He shed light on the foundation's revolutionary approach to changing the face of care:

  • Targeting Mother Cells: Shifting the focus from simply shrinking tumors to modifying the behavior of the "mother cells", or cancer stem cells, which drive the disease's survival and recurrence.

  • The Power of Epigenetics: Explaining how natural, non-toxic compounds can act like a chemical switch, reversing the genetic signals that allow cancer to thrive and effectively turning back the clock on the disease without the devastating side effects of traditional chemotherapy.

  • Honesty and Humility: Emphasizing that true medical innovation requires an open mind, a deep human connection, and the willingness of a physician to truly listen to and learn from their patients.

Looking Forward: A Five-Year Vision

The event also outlined CRLF’s ambitious five-year roadmap to transform cancer care globally. The foundation detailed its goals to establish a multidisciplinary oncology fellowship program, launch specialized cancer rehabilitation and nursing facilities for unsupported patients, and expand preventative oncology through advanced genetic screening for families at risk.

Coming Together to Make a Difference

The inspiring evening wrapped up with a bustling silent auction featuring over twenty unique packages generously donated by local businesses. From exclusive experiences to community treasures, every bid made during the night served a vital purpose.

Every single donation directly funds the foundation's clinical grants, ensuring that terminal patients have immediate access to life-saving, research-based treatments, regardless of financial barriers. Together, the attendees proved that when science meets deep compassion, a cure is no longer a distant dream, it is a mission possible.
